#1679 – Entry-level Engineer for a Customer Facing Role

Location: Maple Grove, MN

My client, a small, growing electronics company is seeking an experienced Technician or entry level Engineer to be their primary interface with customers regarding the design & build of custom electronic assemblies, fixtures and test/measurement equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior technician who wants to move into a customer support / sales role.

Purpose: To provide pre-sale and post-sale technical, product and application support for products to customers and representatives. To comprehend customer application needs and convert these into professional written quotations offering the best fit technical solution to meet needs. To run projects from initial quote through shipment.

Goals and Objectives:
 Timely response to RFQ’s, developing our technical response and custom quotations.
 Effectively manage the design of custom electronics projects through the bid process, release to manufacturing, and shipment.
 Ownership of customer technical issues to resolution and close-out.

Specific Responsibilities:
• Develop proposals and quotations in response to RFQ’s for custom product.
• Act as Project Manager and main point of contact for each custom assembly sold.
• Track schedule, timeline and costs associated with project. Be the primary gatekeeper for profitability of project.

Required technical skills, knowledge and expertise:
• Associates or Bachelors degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is desired.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in an engineering, technician, applications or sales capacity.
• Technically competent with the ability to review drawings and other engineering documents and translate these needs into a technical proposal.
• Solid analytical skills to consider and offer various possible solutions to customers' needs.
• Proven Project Management skills, preferably within an electronics and/or electro-mechanical design & manufacturing environment.
• Communication skills to be able to articulate the benefits and preferences of each.
• Organization of work and multi-tasking skills will be critical in this position.
• Capacity to deal with a high workload and under pressure of meeting deadlines.
